Breast Reduction

When breasts are disproportionately large for a woman’s body frame, they can cause not only aesthetic discomfort but also physical issues such as skin indentations from bra straps, and chronic pain in the back, neck, and shoulders due to excess weight. Breast reduction surgery is a cosmetic procedure designed to reduce breast size by removing excess fat, glandular tissue, and skin.

Why Consider Breast Reduction?

In many cases, overly large breasts can cause more problems than satisfaction. Some of the most common reasons women choose to undergo breast reduction include:

  • Postural problems: The weight of the breasts can cause persistent pain in the shoulders, back, neck, and spine.
  • Difficulty finding clothing that fits properly
  • Unwanted attention or discomfort in social situations
  • Sagging breasts after pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Asymmetry, when the breasts differ noticeably in size or shape
  • Skin irritation or rashes beneath the breast crease
Recovery and Aftercare

To ensure a safe and smooth recovery after breast reduction surgery, it is important to follow your surgeon’s post–operative instructions carefully:

  • Sleep in a semi-upright position.
  • Avoid lifting heavy objects.
  • Do not consume dairy, fatty foods, or green vegetables within the first 48 hours after surgery, as they may cause nausea or vomiting.
  • Wear front-opening shirts for comfort.
  • Walk every two hours with assistance to promote circulation and prevent stiffness.
  • Avoid driving for at least one week after surgery.
  • Wear your post-surgical bra continuously, as instructed by your doctor.
  • Attend all follow-up appointments as scheduled to monitor proper healing.
